Hello Guys,
Welcome to "Perpetual's Kitchen".
Karli Fish Curry is a traditional coastal recipe from the Konkan region, known for its bright red color, coconut base, and bold spicy-tangy flavors. Made using dried red chilies, fresh coconut, and local spices, this authentic fish curry pairs perfectly with steamed rice or neer dosa.

☛FOR MARINATION:-
Take 800 grams of Karli Fish (Silver Bar Fish) pieces in a bowl.
Add ½ tsp Salt.
½ tsp Turmeric powder.
Mix well.
Set aside for 5 minutes to marinate.
☛FOR MASALA PASTE:-
Take ½ bowl of sliced coconut in a grinding jar.
½ bowl chopped coriander leaves.
2 Green chillies - cut 8nto two.
1 Sliced onion.
1 inch roughly chopped ginger.
20-25 Garlic coves.
9-10 whole black peppercorns.
Coarsely grind.
Now add half a cup of water to it and make a fine paste.
Our Masala paste is ready.
⬗Method:-
Heat ¼ cup oil in a kadai (WOK)
Add ¼ tsp Fenugreek seeds, 1 tsp Cumin seeds & 12-15 Curry leaves. Stir & fry.
Add one finely chopped onion and fry till golden brown.
Add the masala paste. Stir & cook.
Now add 2 tbsp Kashmiri red chilli powder, 1 tbsp Coriander powder & ½ tsp turmeric powder. Mix & cook on medium flame..
Add 3 tomatoes puree - Medium size.
Add Salt as per your taste (NOTE:- We also added salt to the fish pieces while marinating them)
Mix & cook well
Close the lid & let it cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
Open the lid after 5 minutes & mix well.
Wash the grinding jar in which we made the masala paste & pour that water into the kadai. Stir well.
Add Water - 1 Glass & stir well.
Close the lid & let it cook on medium flame for 5 minutes.
Open the lid after 5 minutes & mix well.
Add 4 tbsp Tamarind pulp, 2 green chillies - Slit in centre, some chopped coriander leaves & ½ tsp Garam masala. Mix well.
Add the marinated fish pieces & mix well.
Close the lid & let it cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
Open the lid after 5 minutes. Shake & mix well.
OUR HOTEL-STYLE "KARLI FISH CURRY" IS READY TO SERVE😊
🍽️ Serving Suggestions:-
Serve hot with steamed rice, neer dosa, or bhakri.
A squeeze of lime before serving enhances flavour.
