'UK engaging with China to seize opportunities' Starmer lands in Shanghai amid Trump's warnings

Описание: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Shanghai Friday on the 3rd day of his visit to China.

Starmer made the remarks when attending a China-UK business event.

His arrival in Shanghai, coincided with a warning from US President Donald Trump that it was “very dangerous” for the UK to do business with China.

Chinese Foreign Ministry also responded to Mr Trump that China stands ready to enhance cooperation with other countries in a win-win spirit to benefit the people of all countries.

Also on Friday, the British PM toured Yuyuan Garden, a more than 450-year-old landmark located in central Shanghai's Huangpu district.

Starmer strolled along Jiuquqiao, or the nine-bend zigzag bridge; tried Shanghai's famous palmier at a shop near the bridge; visited Huxinting, a traditional pavilion tea house that has been visited by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

He also admired lantern decorations for the upcoming Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 17.

Mr Starmer will leave Shanghai for Tokyo on Saturday, to meet his Japanese counterpart Sanae Takaichi for dinner.
