Written by John Phippard & sung by Kevin Collins and by D'arcy Brodrick from the Irish Descendants in Newfoundland.
The song is about the down turn of the small boat fishing industry which happened there and is also happening in Ireland and other places in Europe. The recent film Atlantic highlights the issues for the coastal fishermen and features the plight of Arranmore Island , Co. Donegal Ireland which is very close to home.
I changed the lyrics a little to reflect life on the other side of the Atlantic but the sad story is the same.
