The Dehumanizing CEFR Language Levels Explained

Описание: Breaking the CEFR Chains: Dehumanizing Language Levels Explained

00:00 CEFR is just one truth among others
01:54 Teaching just one program
03:03 Masters in German and still A1
03:47 Example of an imposed standard
05:08 A more organic approach
06:12 The martial arts dojo
07:23 The benefits of a single program
09:20 The self-limiting beliefs of CEFR
10:20 Language according to personal circumstance

CEFR language levels may be useful for visas, resumes, and standardized testing — but they can also seriously stunt your learning.

In this video, I explain why.

Most language learners accept CEFR levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) as if they were inseparable from language itself. You start learning — therefore you must belong to a level. But that assumption is rarely questioned.

CEFR is not “language.”
It is a training framework for standardized testing.

It represents one point of view — not the full reality of how humans acquire, use, and live inside a language.

Language testing is a multi-million dollar industry. Schools, publishers, exam centers — an entire chain depends on levels existing. That doesn’t automatically make CEFR evil. But it does mean we should be honest about what it is: a bureaucratic system designed for measurement.

And measurement is not the same as education.

In this video, I explore:

• Why CEFR can create psychological limits
• The difference between training and education
• Why real-life language use is domain-specific, not “level-based”
• How standardized ladders distort organic growth
• Why adults need a different approach to language learning
• Why one complete program can be more respectful than dividing learners into artificial stages

You can be “C1” in one context and “A1” in another.
Language doesn’t care about levels. Reality doesn’t function in neat staircases.

If you’ve ever felt stuck chasing B2 or C1…
If you’ve ever felt your foundations were shaky while pursuing “advanced” language…
If you suspect language learning should feel more organic and human…

This video is for you.

My approach rejects the ladder system. I teach one complete program — an education in the logic of French — designed for adults who want practical, clear, high-quality language for real life.

If your goal is growth rather than certification, you may need a different philosophy.
