In 1996 the band qualified to perform at the European Brass Band Championship. The contest is held in a different venue each year and this event took place at the Grieg Hall in Bergen Norway. This was the first time YBS (and most of the players) had performed at the European.
Unlike most contests you have to perform two test-pieces at the European. Unlike today both of these performances took place on the same day. We also drew number one in both parts of the contest; not the best start to our morning!!
After getting over the shock of the draws and giving the World premiere performance of Seid we had a quick rehearsal before taking to the stage for our own choice piece, Revelation.
