India a messenger of peace in conflict-hit world: President Murmu in Republic Day eve address

Описание: President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday said India is acting as a “messenger of peace” in a world marked by rising geopolitical tensions, stressing that the future of humanity depends on global harmony. Addressing the nation on the eve of the 77th Republic Day, she said India’s civilisational ethos has always upheld prayers for peace across the universe.

The President underlined that India advocates peace from a position of strength, highlighting the Armed Forces’ preparedness and the success of Operation Sindoor, a precision strike on terror infrastructure. She also recalled her visits to Siachen Base Camp and experiences with the Army, Air Force and Navy, saying citizens have deep trust in India’s defence capabilities.

Focusing on women empowerment, President Murmu described “nari shakti” as central to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. She noted the growing role of women in self-help groups, Panchayati Raj institutions, sports, defence, space, and entrepreneurship, and said the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will further strengthen political participation of women.

On social welfare, she highlighted poverty alleviation efforts, food security support to nearly 81 crore beneficiaries, and targeted schemes for tribal and marginalised communities. The President said India’s governance model is becoming more citizen-centric through technology, deregulation and public participation.

She also pointed to India’s rise as the world’s fastest-growing major economy, progress driven by structural reforms, GST, infrastructure push, and the vision of Atmanirbharta. Emphasising cultural pride, she noted that the Constitution is now available in all 22 scheduled languages and that celebrations marking 150 years of Vande Mataram reflect India’s enduring spirit of unity.
