Gauteng police have confirmed the death of police reservist and informant Wiandre Pretorius.
The 41-year-old reportedly shot himself in the presence of his partner at a filling station in Brakpan, on Gauteng's East Rand, last night.
Pretorius was a person of interest in the assassination of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry's Witness D, who directly implicated Pretorius in the 2022 torture and extrajudicial killing of Emmanuel Mbhense during his testimony before the commission.
Earlier this week, Pretorius survived an attempted hit outside his home in Bokburg, where unknown gunmen fired at least 16 bullets into his vehicle.
Police have opened an inquest docket to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
