Malnutrition is the single greatest threat to child survival today, contributing to more than 45 percent of all child deaths worldwide. Severely malnourished children are 9 times more likely to die before age 5 than a healthy child. Helen Keller’s frontline workers deliver lifesaving interventions to families in Nepal’s most remote and vulnerable communities, screening and treating children suffering from malnutrition.
Helen Keller prioritizes proven solutions, including exclusive breastfeeding, education about good nutrition and hygiene practices, providing supplements for women during pregnancy and for infants after birth, empowering families to grow nutritious foods on household farms, and strengthening community-based health care.
