Sri Lanka’s former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has been sworn in as the country's new Prime Minister. He will head up the caretaker cabinet until the general election is held.
Rajapaksa was appointed by his brother, the newly elected president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa. A decade ago, the brothers led a decisive campaign that helped end Sri Lanka's long-running civil war against the Tamil Tigers.
Thusiyan Nandakumar, the Editor-in-Chief of the Tamil Guardian, joins us to discuss Sri Lanka politics.
