Hydroelectric energy is one of the main renewable energy resources nowadays and has an important role if our society wants to have a good equilibrium with the environment, a green future. Our idea, Urban Dams, is a way to produce energy from the rainwater in the big metropoles like New York, London and Mumbai, where rainy days are common but that water isn't used.
With reservoirs on top of the buildings, the rainfall would fill them up, then, when it reaches their limits, the rainwater stored will be discharged in monitored conducts where, by the principle of Energy conservation, the fluid will gain Kinetic energy that will be converted in electric energy with the help of turbines on the conduct's end. Finally, because not all of the rain falls on buildings, by creating a sewer system for rainwaters, the filtered water will be stored in tanks and then energy will be produced from the pressure of the water right before it returns to the rivers, to continue the important Water Cycle.
