For the 30th year in a row, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is ringing in the new year by encouraging the public to get out into the fresh air of a state park near you! But this year is a little different. Instead of the traditional First Day Hikes, this year we're hosting First Week Hikes and asking the public to spread out to keep crowds low in the parks.
Historically, First Day Hikes are popular adventures guided by DCR staff. In an effort to provide residents and visitors with outdoor recreation opportunities for the New Year in a safe manner during the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's hikes will be self-guided.
