Описание: In a major move towards Digital India, cash payments at toll plazas across the country have been completely discontinued from April 10, with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways making FASTag and other digital modes mandatory on all national highways and expressways. The decision aims to reduce congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow by eliminating long queues caused by cash transactions. Vehicle owners without FASTag can still pay via UPI or digital methods but at a higher cost of 1.25 times the toll fee, while failure to pay may result in penalties or denial of passage. Authorities have also tightened toll exemption rules, making authorised FASTags compulsory even for exempt vehicles. For frequent travellers, an annual FASTag pass priced at ₹3,075 for up to 200 trips has been introduced, making it essential for commuters to keep their FASTag active, funded, and KYC-compliant.
