The success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken the Marvel brand to new heights, with characters in the Avengers, such as Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man, becoming household names in the span of a decade. In modern times, they've become the "big three" of sorts, compared to the three most prominent Marvel characters prior to the MCU: Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine. It seems likely that after Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four could become the new focal point for Marvel Studios. Marvel Animation had the potential to stand toe-to-toe with DC Animation, but that was cut short once Disney acquired Marvel in 2009. The quality of shows like Ultimate Spider-Man or What If...? doesn't compare well to shows like Wolverine and the X-Men or Spectacular Spider-Man.
