Alaknanda River Overflows: रुद्रप्रयाग में खतरे के निशान के पार पहुंची अलकनंदा नदी! | Uttarakhand | 31 July 2026
रुद्रप्रयाग, उत्तराखंड: इलाके में भारी बारिश के बाद रुद्रप्रयाग में अलकनंदा नदी का जलस्तर काफी बढ़ गया है।
Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand: Water levels rise significantly in the Alaknanda River at Rudraprayag following heavy rainfall in the region.
Heavy rainfall has caused the Alaknanda River to swell significantly in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, with the water level crossing the warning mark. The rising river has submerged the Rudraprayag Sangam and nearby ghats, while access to several houses located close to the riverbank has also been affected.
The Rudraprayag district administration and municipal authorities have intensified surveillance across vulnerable areas. Public announcements are being made to alert residents, particularly families living near the Alaknanda River, drains and swollen streams. People in low-lying and riverbank areas have been advised to vacate their homes temporarily and move to safer locations.
Municipal teams, police personnel, district administration officials and disaster response agencies remain deployed to provide assistance and respond to emergencies. Authorities are continuously monitoring the river as persistent rainfall could lead to a further rise in water levels.
Heavy rainfall has also triggered landslides in the district. The Kedarnath Yatra was suspended after debris and large boulders blocked the trekking route near Gaurikund, and stranded pilgrims were shifted to safer places. Police, SDRF and other emergency teams have been deployed to restore connectivity.
The weather department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Uttarakhand, along with the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning. Residents and pilgrims have been urged to avoid riverbanks, landslide-prone roads and other vulnerable locations.
