Most aviation enthusiasts know the "Wooden Wonder" as the British Mosquito. But few know that the Netherlands built their own twin-engine wooden combat aircraft before the war—the Fokker T.V.
Designed around the unique concept of the "Aerial Cruiser" (Luchtkruiser), this plane was meant to be a flying destroyer: heavily armed with a 20mm cannon and machine guns to dominate the sky. However, when the German invasion began in May 1940, these medium bombers were forced into a desperate fight against the overwhelming might of the Luftwaffe.
