Описание: Today's adventure took us to Walsenburg, the Heart of Spanish Peaks Country! (January 2, 2022)

Walsenburg began as the village of Plaza de los Leones and became a trading center with the arrival of Fred Walsen. When connected to rail, coal mining quickly took off with Walsenburg sitting perfectly between the Steel Mill and mining towns, carrying the economy until the 1940's. Today Walsenburg struggles, unable to rebound back to the boom-town it once was despite tourism efforts.

My family and I are on a mission to learn about the history and geography of where we live by visiting every town within a 4 hour drive of our house. We live in Pueblo West and once per month we are going to venture out and explore the great state of Colorado, one town at a time!
