Speed is affected by not having your engine running at full capacity. To ensure that you are constantly getting the most, you need enough power so that the engine and navigation console are working at peak performance. This section will look at how to build a simple automatic reactor controller to help provide consistent electricity to everything on your submarine.

Ballast tank upgrades | (02:18)
You can make your submarine actually descend faster which increases your base speed. To do this you will need to add additional ballast tanks by converting small pumps designed to pump water out into ones that will allow you to take on more water, which in turn allows you to go down faster.

Quick Drain | (04:14)
Automatic drain hatches on submarines are much slower than a hatch, certain submarine configurations can be improved to open multiple main access hatches to drain water much faster.

Emergency repair System | (05:05)
As a final bonus, there is a way of hooking up an automatic hull repair system, that whilst expensive and time consuming to refill, will get you out of emergency situations quickly. This means that your submarine can be back on the move at full speed again very quickly.
