Jam Pedals Waterfall: Does this chorus pedal sound too nice?

That's not a rhetorical question: I took the Waterfall off my board because, while it was sounding great, its tonality - softened treble, thickened bass - was too much of a mismatch with the bypass tone. Does this kind of thing bother other people, or is it just me?
Before that I had the opposite problem with the Walrus Julia V2, which has that great blend control but was adding something harsh in the upper midrange. I've since tried the JHS Ross Chorus (too hissy) and the Mad Professor Electric Blue II (poppy footswitch), and have now basically given up... at least until I get my hands on a Diamond Vibrato.
Anyway, the video. Yes, I'm afraid it's a chorus. But the thesis here is that, if you don't want that whole '80s thing, speed is the key...
(Guitar is a Gordon Smith GS Deluxe Semi-Solid, coil-tapped.)
