Hipsway is a scottish band and was founded in 1984 by John McElhone who was before part of a project called "Altered Orange. In general the scottish music scene was around that time very vital and so the band hasn't got a huge problem to get a deal with a major company. So they released their first album in 1985 with tracks like "Honeythief" and "Ask The Lord" on it. In the beginning there wasn't anything really happening except small chart entries around #70 in the UK. The release of the single "Honeythief" changed all that for a short time. After that the single "Ask The Lord" was re-released with new versions... which you'll find here. Also again with chart success.
But at the end of 1986 John McElhone left the band to set up a new project called "Texas" which also may ring a bell...
another album followed in 1989 without any success... so since then "hipsway wasn't active anymore.
of course we do not own any rights but thought it is good idea to share our musical roots and so support their / our music
