In Luke Chapter 12, the Lord teaches His disciples to always be ready for His return because, “...the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not” (Luke 12:40). Jesus clearly teaches that He will entrust stewardship in the kingdom of heaven to those who served Him, in this life, while He was away. A lack of service to the Lord in this life will be severely punished when He returns. “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required” (Luke 12:48).
