Shiv Sena, which rules the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), dismissed allegations that the country’s richest municipal corporation failed its citizens when heavy rains and high tide battered Mumbai on Tuesday. In its mouthpiece Saamana, Shiv Sena said cities like Hutson and Texas also face the flood-like situation and raised the BMC for handling situation in Mumbai. Shiv Sena asked why state governments in Bihar and Assam were not being questioned for floods in their respective state.

Four days after a heavy downpour left the city paralysed, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray said on Saturday that he would meet CM Devendra Fadnavis and demand that a meeting of all agencies working in the city be convened to find out if each had fulfilled its responsibility vis-a-vis monsoon work. He also blamed the BJP-led government for the collapse of Husaini
Thackeray was speaking at a party meeting held in Bandra to pay condolence to Dr Deepak Amrapurkar who died after slipping into an open manhole.
"It is the responsibility of the state to vacate all dilapidated buildings and rehabilitate residents...," he said.
