Notice the second line positioned at the base of the soldier course, this is because there is no brickwork below to line to.
You will find on openings/lintels of a large span that the bricks will tend to tip the more you lay. To keep this under control carefully place bricks (as shown) on top and resting onto a solid backing.
Constantly keep a check on gauge plus a joint and also plumb every 2nd soldier with a boat level as you go.
Finally, as with the BOE make sure you fill the frogs on the joint application to keep the work solid and protected against frost.
