Surah Ash-Shams (Chapter 91) – Meaning in English:-
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its brightness,
And by the moon when it follows it,
And by the day when it reveals it,
And by the night when it covers it,
And by the sky and the One who built it,
And by the earth and the One who spread it,
And by the soul and the One who perfected it,
And inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness,
Successful indeed is the one who purifies it,
And ruined is the one who corrupts it.
The people of Thamud denied the truth because of their arrogance,
When the most wicked of them rose up,
And the Messenger of Allah said to them: “Leave the she-camel of Allah and do not harm her.”
But they denied him and killed her, so their Lord destroyed them for their sin and made them equal in punishment,
And He does not fear the consequences.
Short message of the Surah:-
This Surah teaches that true success lies in purifying the soul, while failure comes from corrupting it. It warns against arrogance and disobedience, using the example of the people of Thamud.
