The answer? It depends on your permit type. Here’s the breakdown:
🟢 PGWP Applicants (Post-Graduation Work Permit)
✅ Covered under Section 186(w) of the IRPR
✅ Can leave and return to Canada
✅ Can keep working, even for a new employer
🔴 BOWP, PNP, or AIP-Based Extensions
❌ If you leave Canada while it's processing, you lose maintained status
🚫 You cannot legally work after re-entering until your new permit is approved
