Car Slams Into Apartment Building in South Los Angeles

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27, 2026 (KNN) – Los Angeles firefighters and police officers responded to a reported crash shortly before 9 p.m. involving a vehicle striking an apartment complex at the intersection of 50th Street and Figueroa in the Vermont Square neighborhood within South Los Angeles.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a white Scion sedan that had crashed through a fence and into a three-story apartment building. A Basic Life Support ambulance was requested, but it remains unclear if the driver was transported for medical attention.
Building and Safety officials were also called to the scene to evaluate the compromised structure.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, though it appears to be a solo vehicle incident.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division is handling the investigation.
