Since John Duke introduced the WaterRower to the world back in 1988, stationary rowing has never the same. Even today they’re select machines, sold out of America, the UK, Germany, France and The Netherlands. Because WaterRowers are still made by hand in-house at the facilities in Rhode Islands, you won’t find them in every gym across the land like the common air resistance rowers.
You see, Mr. Duke created the original WaterFlyWheel so he could train harder and more accurately as a member of the US National Rowing Team. He used an indoor rowing machine at the time but he didn’t feel like conventional fly wheels provided the type of resistance his body needed to get stronger and faster out on the water.
