Boomslangs tend to hold onto branches, and they are actually very strong in spite of their long, slender bodies. After going back and forth by the tree, I eventually managed to get my snake tongs onto the snake. That was only possible by balancing on a wall with basically nothing to hold onto myself.
Once I got a hold of the female boomslang, I could take it close to the head with my hand, wearing my one glove. By doing that, I don't have to pull on the snake but can use my free hand to literally untangle the snake from the branches she was holding on to.

Pulling snakes out of trees with snake handling tools can injure them by ripping their skin open and also breaking their ribs or their spine. Those are very delicate bones. Lots of times, catching a snake is not just a straightforward pick-up-and-bin scenario. Work safe, use proper tools and handle snakes in such a way to avoid any injuries.
