First time skiing Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington. The first run we aimed to do The Lip, but ended up skiers left because it turns into a waterfall in the spring. I ended up hopping over a 10-20 foot deep crevasse which made for an exciting first run. Second run I skied between Center Headwall and Chute North Variation. It was a beautiful day and temps peaked in the mid to upper 60s.
We got to witness a guy tomahawk 500 feet from the same spot I did my second run. We watched a sedan sized ice block fall off the face and come crashing down the center of the ravine.
Many lessons learned on this trip. My legs were shot from carrying far too much gear around and hiking much further than we needed. Overall it was an amazing experience.
