I’m honored to welcome Ginger Ragaishis to JP Live for a powerful conversation about advocacy, identity, and access because disability doesn’t discriminate.
Ginger is an extraordinary young leader and advocate:
👑 Miss Vermont’s Teen 2023
👑 Current Miss New York Teen USA 2025
🎭 Theater major at NYU Tisch School of the Arts (Drama & Acting)
📖 Author of a children’s book
🏆 4th Runner-Up at Miss Teen USA
💛 Founder of Defying Limits, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit addressing the stigma of disability and providing college scholarships for students with hidden (learning) disabilities.
What makes this conversation especially meaningful is our shared history.
Ginger has a processing disorder, and years ago, long before national titles and major stages, she was a mentor in my Prep for Success class at Burr and Burton Academy, modeling confidence, self-advocacy, and leadership for younger students navigating their own learning challenges.
In this episode of JP Live, we explore:
• Why disability cuts across backgrounds, achievement levels, and appearances
• What it really means to thrive with a hidden or learning disability
• The role of mentorship in building confidence and opportunity
• Why representation matters for students whose challenges aren’t always visible
This conversation is for parents, educators, and students who need to hear a clear message:
A disability does not define potential; it challenges systems to do better.
