Marella Explorer...Part 4..Meet the Captain and Funchal by Tuk Tuk

Описание: So our first and only sea day on this cruise , after breakfast we did a bit more exploring of the ship before heading to the Squid and Anchor for a Q and A with the Captain . This was a very informal event but very interesting .
We then headed to the Lido deck to have a spot of lunch at the Snack Shack ,and prepare ourselves for some more music performed by Jon Fisher as Gary Barlow . Then it was a bit of time in a hot tub to warm up as the wind was starting to get a bit chilly .
That evening we had dinner in Vista , it's the part of the main restaurant dedicated to Italian cuisine , and very nice it was as well. From there we headed to the theatre for POP a tribute to different number one hits from different eras .
The following morning we arrived in Funchal on the beautiful island of Madeira, we had an early excursion booked through Marella , Funchal by Tuk Tuk . We were picked up directly opposite the ship by our driver . We had a very nice 90 minute tour taking us to different parts of Funchal . Parts that a coach or Taxi wouldn't be able to navigate , afterwards we chose to be dropped off in the centre of town . We spent most of the afternoon exploring Funchal , where we had lunch in a nice terrace above the market We also went back to Blandys the famous Madeira wine producer where we sampled a few glasses of their finest .
After returning to the ship we once again headed to the Lido deck for a drink before returning to the cabin to get ready for the evening . We were eating in the Tapas restaurant, which is situated at the Aft of the ship . We had a sharing board to start , followed by 3 small plates of Tapas each , then 1 main course which has a small supplement attached . The food was excellent and we both left the restaurant feeling stuffed .
We had been warned that the seas were going to be a bit rougher ,and so as we headed towards the theatre which is situated at the front of the ship we could really start to feel the movement. The theatre was very empty which we can only put down to the motion of the ship . It was a very good show which the cast did a great job completing as by now the ship was really rocking .
So ended another enjoyable day onboard Marella Explorer
