With deep sorrow, the Jamat is informed that our beloved 49th hereditary Imam, Mawlana Shah Karim Al-Hussaini, peacefully returned to Almighty Allah’s grace on February 4, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal, surrounded by his family.
In accordance with the historical Shia Imami Ismaili tradition and the practice of nass, Mawlana Shah Karim’s successor as the 50th Shia Imami Ismaili Imam has been designated. His designation is documented in his Will, which will be read in the presence of the Imam’s family and senior international Jamati leaders. Following this, the Jamat will be formally informed of the declared Hazar Imam, in whom the Nur continues in an unbroken hereditary lineage from Mawlana Ali (peace be upon him).
As we honour and express gratitude for the life and legacy of Mawlana Shah Karim, we find comfort in the enduring love and guidance of the Nur of the Imam-of-the-Time.
