How to make High Protein Quail Breeder / Layer Feed

Welcome to Tully River Quail Co, member USQC/PAQC of the US Quail Cooperative.

This video is about how to increase the protein content of your Breeder and layer feed and the benefits of US Quail's Coturnix1-3 Coturnix Quail Feed System.

Coturnix1 (Starter) has 32% protein in a fine crumble
Coturnix3 (Breeder/Layer) has 22% protein ~3% mineral form calcium ("Rooster safe" for 1-5 cage covey sets).
At present, USQuail does not offer a Coturnix2 (Grower) Feed, as Coturnix quail mature so quickly, we've found it best to have Quail farmers make their own Grower based on the development of their birds in the brooder.

Coturnix1 is Non Medicated/ nonGMO. We do not trust big Ag to bioegineered our birds, and it has been shown that medicated feed (medication incorporated into the crumble = anything from probiotics to vaccines, there is little restriction on labeling) decreases the birds immunity. A young bird, like a child has natural immunity upon birth from colostrum or in the egg, albumin. That level decreases over 2 weeks. Only then should preventative medication be introduced. You can buy vial sized single dose Corrid (amproliom) to create a dialy, fresh secondary "medicated" water source to introduce coccidiosis prevention (5 day regimen in a standard qt chock drinker) to provide for optimal resistance when their bodies can benefit the most. It's obviously easier to sell it in the food ...and more profitable for Purina et al, but not optimal.

Anyway, by mixing the high protein starter into your Breeder layer can:
-Bump the protein levels
-Provide an occasional (every 3-4 feeder fills) protein treat
-Transition chick's to their adult feed by manually titering the feed ratio (wk 4 = 50/50, wk 6 = 25/75, week 8 = 15/85
-Make your own "Grower"
-Extend the volume of Breeder feed
-Provide variety with causing digestive distress.

Our goal is to encrypt everything possible so we are impervious from attack. "Ghost farmers"? - what have we come to where we have to hide to sell food! WE can fix this!
