Ollantaytambo, Peru - September 2025

Описание: From Urubamba, we moved 30 minutes north to the city of Ollantaytambo, which is another beautiful city in the Sacred Valley. This city dates to the 15th century and has several well-preserved archeological sites. The main attraction is the archeological site, but there are a couple of side hikes that are worthwhile if you have the time.

Inka Watana is located at the top back end of the main archeological site. After a 20-to-30-minute hike, you reach the Inka Watana site located on the top of the mountain and will be rewarded with an amazing view of Ollantaytambo.

Another great free hike is the Sitio arqueológico Pinkuylluna that is located on the opposite side of Ollantaytambo. The entrance is from a city walkway and takes about 20-to-30-minute to reach one of the sites and another 20-minutes to walk to the other. We spent about an hour hiking and admiring the views.

From Ollantaytambo, we boarded the train to Aguas Calientes for our Machu Picchu adventure.

Our 🧭 compass now points North as we make our final push to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu).
