Emergency Medicine, AIIMS Patna organized a two-day workshop on “Medication Safety” for MBBS interns

Описание: The Department of Emergency Medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna, under the guidance of the National Patient Safety Secretariat (NPSS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, successfully organized a two-day workshop on “Medication Safety” for MBBS interns on 14th and 15th January 2026.

The workshop was inaugurated with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agrawal, Prof. (Dr.) Punam Prasad Bhadani, Dean (Academics), Shri Nilotpal Bal, Deputy Director (Admin), Prof. (Dr.) Anup Kumar, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Divendu Bhushan, Additional Professor & Head, Department of Emergency Medicine. The dignitaries emphasized the vital importance of medication safety in enhancing patient outcomes and minimizing preventable medical errors.

Dr. Avinash Sunthalia, DADG, DGHS, NPSS-Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, addressed the participants through online mode. He highlighted the national vision, policies, and initiatives undertaken to strengthen patient safety and promote safe medication practices across healthcare institutions in India.

The academic sessions featured expert deliberations by Dr. Sunil Kumar (Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine), Mr. Sitaram (ANS), Dr. Deepak Kumar (Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine), Dr. Hansmukh Jain (Assistant Professor, College of Nursing), and Dr. Divendu Bhushan. The sessions focused on key aspects such as safe prescribing practices, prevention of medication errors, management of high-alert medications, effective communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration in patient care.

The workshop concluded with an interactive, hands-on prescription writing session conducted by Dr. Divendu Bhushan, which enabled interns to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life clinical scenarios.

The workshop was well received by the MBBS interns and reaffirmed AIIMS Patna’s commitment to fostering a strong culture of patient safety, rational medication use, and clinical excellence among future healthcare professionals.
