In 2004 NASCAR made it's first change to the points format in nearly 30 years. The Chase For The NEXTEL Cup was introduced to try and inject excitement into NASCAR's season long title battle. What ensued in its inaugural season was a historic 10 race battle for the title that forever changed the face of the sport. This was The First Chase.
