Twenty years ago, in Shyamnagar Annapurna Market, a small food stall was started by husband and wife Maran Kundu and Sumita Kundu—out of necessity and courage.
Maran used to work as a tailor in Kolkata, while Sumita worked at a nursing home in Beleghata. Despite working hard, managing household expenses was difficult. One day, with Sumita’s idea and determination, the couple decided to open a small food shop together.
Today, their stall serves simple yet delicious food like roti, vegetable curry, paratha, egg curry, chana dal, and aloo dum. Customers eat here with great satisfaction, and many market visitors make it a point to stop here at least once.
The family runs the shop together. Their middle daughter helps her mother at the stall after Maran injured his hand. Sumita’s brother-in-law (Maran’s younger brother) also supports them in running the shop.
The business is doing well, their family is now stable, and every evening Maran and Sumita end their day by remembering God with gratitude.
This is not just a food stall—it is a real story of hard work, family support, and never giving up.
