Timer operation in 8051 Microcontroller is an important part. Two timers in 8051 Microcontroller, Timer 0 and Timer 1, both are 16 bit Timer, One of the main function of Timer is to create Delay. Timer may be used as Timer as well as Counter. Which timer we will use and whether it will be used as Timer or Counter that is defined by setting in TMOD register.

In this video tutorial I have discussed about functions of different bits in TMOD register, what will be status of different bits when we will use the time as a Timer, which bit will be set for software run etc.
I have discussed here which are different modes Timer can be operated, how to set the timer to operate at a particular mode.
I have discussed the basic operation of Timer. How to start it , what should be the initial value, at which situation Timer Overflow Flag will be high, what will happen when timer overflow flag become high.
In this video tutorial I have discussed step wise operation of Timer in Mode 1. What will be maximum value, when timer will rollover etc.
