A Biosphere Reserve is the largest conservation area. Biodiversity protection, research, and sustainable human activities take place here. Although not directly mentioned in the Constitution, it is protected under government policies and UNESCO guidelines.
👉 National Parks are more strict. They fall under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Article 48A also gives the State the duty to protect the environment and wildlife.
👉 Wildlife Sanctuaries are also protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, but limited human activities may be allowed there.
And the role of citizens?
👉 Article 51A(g) states that it is the fundamental duty of every citizen to protect the environment and wildlife.
