Today we begin a two-part journey of real exploration here in Zimbabwe. Deep within the rocks behind our home lies something created long before us, and we’re finally ready to uncover what this land has been holding onto.

We’re clearing years of overgrowth, opening ancient pathways, and stepping into a landscape filled with history, wildlife, and a few very cheeky monkeys! The previous owner was locally known as a sangoma (traditional healer), and there are stories and mysteries woven into these rocks that we’re only just beginning to understand.

This episode is all about first discoveries—revealing hidden spaces, imagining what this property could become, and starting to put our family stamp on our African homestead. The boys are in full adventure mode, Obie is on monkey patrol, and every corner we clear seems to reveal something new.

In the next episode we’ll be going even deeper into the bush to search for a second set of ancient San rock paintings and to decide where our very first Zimbabwe build—a tiny stone office—might live.
