In this live session, I’m performing drums on the Korg Electribe 2 and running everything through the Moog Matriarch to shape tone, texture, and width in real time.
This isn’t just a beat it’s about analog texture, filter movement, and sound design during performance.
I’m switching between lowpass/lowpass and highpass/lowpass filter modes on the Matriarch to create different tonal spaces and separation in the drums. Slight resonance is added to bring out percussive clarity and depth, giving each element its own space without losing groove.
To push things further, I’m using the Moog Spectravox noise oscillator, filtering it, then routing it into the Matriarch filter cutoff modulation input to introduce lofi texture, grit, and movement. This adds a subtle but powerful layer of character that evolves as I perform.
The analog delay is slightly engaged at a faster rate to exaggerate stereo separation just enough to create width without washing out the drums.
Throughout the performance, I’m actively shaping:
Thickness
Tone
Texture
Stereo space
Analog character
No DAW tricks. No presets. Just hands-on sound design and live control.
If you’re into dawless performance, analog routing, Moog processing, or pushing drum machines beyond stock sound, this is for you.
Welcome to Big Grime analog sessions.
