Hollywood Keeps Dumbing Down Disturbing Books

But this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Earlier this year, Emerald Fenell ruined Wuthering Heights, taking the dark novel and making it superficial. What do these two adaptations tell us about how Hollywood keeps trying and failing to adapt dark novels?
