𝟏) 𝗪𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫
Surrey's climate is very similar to Vancouver's, seeing that it is located not too far away. Being a suburb of Vancouver you can expect to get similar weather. However, most people overreact to how bad it is. Winters don't get very much snow and for the most part they're just cold, wet and cloudy. Being slightly inland, Surrey tends to have a higher probability of getting snow than Vancouver. Summers are hot but relatively short. It is also slightly warmer than Vancouver in the summer. Overall, Surrey's weather is far warmer and milder than the rest of Canada which is one of the main attractions for most people when considering moving here, especially if they're from outside the Lower Mainland.

𝟐) 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭
Because of its central location in the lower mainland, it makes it extremely convenient no matter what direction you're headed. It’s common for residents to commute to work in other parts of Metro Vancouver. The city has a grid road system making it easy to navigate even without a map.

As far as rapid transit, the SkyTrain Expo Line connects Surrey to Vancouver. The skytrain currently only goes into the northern part of Surrey but the upcoming extension into Langley in the next 5-10 years. Buses are the main way of public transport for people living in this city. Currently, there are more than 1,300 bus stops. The fare system is divided into three zones and you pay according to the number of zones you travel across.

A lot of people tend to speak poorly of Surrey but most haven't really spent any time here and have only been to 1 or 2 places. Typically being 2 of my least favourite neighbourhoods, so I don't blame them. Like any other city, there are good and bad neighbourhoods. You just need to know what you're looking for.

𝟒) 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 & 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥
Canada is known as a multicultural country that is welcoming to immigrants, and Surrey is a great example of this important Canadian value. It's diverse make-up creates a welcoming environment to newcomers in Canada and adds interesting cultural events, activities, restaurants, and services to the city. The largest minority populations are South Asian, Chinese and Filipino.

𝟓) 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲
The majority of Surrey is quite safe. There are some specific neighbourhoods that have higher rates of homeless people, drug users, and crime. I've been a Surrey resident for nearly 30 years and I've never felt unsafe walking the streets at night outside of a few select neighbourhoods. Surrey actually has some areas located in flood plains. Most of this is in the ALR or farmland, but there are some places you're going to want to avoid.
