How To ACTUALLY Find Your Voice Type

If it were just your range then what do people with a large vocal range do?

I myself have a vocal range that spans across altos, mezzos and sopranos 🤷🏼‍♀️

Range is just a small part in determining your voice type.

The other (and more important!) part is your prima voce - the sweet spot of your voice.

One of the best ways to determine your prima voce (and therefore your voice type) is by comparing the TONE of your voice to other singers.

Who has a similar tone to yours and what are their voice types? You’re most likely going to be around that voice type as well.

So for me - I can hit all the notes of an alto, mezzo and soprano, but my tone is much more similar to Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus or Demi Lovato instead of Ariana Grande for example.

That means that I am most likely somewhere between and alto and a mezzo, NOT a soprano (even though that’s what I always did in school choir!).

I do also want to say that…

I really don’t care what my voice type is… or what yours is for that matter.

What’s important is that you know the strengths of your voice and pick songs based on that.

I don’t care what you want to call that - that’s just a label after all 🤷🏼‍♀️
