The Kyū-maru-shiki-sensha, or better known in English as the Type 90, was Japan’s primary MBT from 1990, as the name implies, 2009. However, only 341 were built, and it's service life of just 19 years begs the question: what happened to it? Why was the Type 90 built, and why was it retired so soon after it was accepted into service?
