Dearest Students,
It's quite useful to learn the names of months in #Czech, but it's even better to know about the origin of each name. I sincerely hope that being aware of the origin will help you to memorise not only each name better, but also broaden your vocabulary through related words.
I also hope you will like my Moon pictures!
For memory:
Leden - January
Únor - February
Březen - March
Duben -April
Květen - May
Červen - June
Červenec - July
Srpen - August
Září - September
Říjen - October
Listopad - November
Prosinec - December
I wish you lots of pleasure whilst watching and learning Czech!!! Oh, and "Luna mendax maximus" simply means that "the Moon is the biggest liar", because its shape, C or D, indicates the opposite phase She is in. Thus, when the Moon adopts the shape C, She is in "Decresco", waning, and when She is shaped as a D, She is in "Cresco", waxing phase. In Czech, this problem is not occurring, because D is for Dorůstá (waxing or growing), and C for Couvá (receding or waning). Reason more to love&learn Czech!
