Meet Julia Cho, Peter J. Kuo, Stefanie Wong Lau and Marie-Reine Velez. They are Artists at Play, a new theatre collective in Southern California. They will be producing the biting new comedy CHING CHONG CHINAMAN by Lauren Yee in November 2011.
CHING CHONG CHINAMAN is an award-winning and recently published comedy by up-and-coming writer Lauren Yee. Turning every cliché about Asian American identity on its head, CHING CHONG CHINAMAN introduces us to the all-American Wong family and their all-American dreams. To free up time to play World of Warcraft, the son Upton acquires an indentured servant from China. Life in the Wong household is turned upside down with the arrival of Jinqiang ("Ching Chong") who harbors his own American dreams!
