Tender chicken coated in a light, crispy batter and then drizzled in our delicious Kimchi Hot Honey – a real crowd pleaser!
Ingredients:
The Scottish Bee Company Kimchi Hot Honey
1kg Chicken Wings
2 Garlic Cloves
Ginger (about 2cm chunk)
Soy Sauce
White Rice Vinegar
Chilli Powder
Cornflour
Water
Sesame Seeds
Spring Onion
1 Litre Sunflower Oil
Salt & Pepper
Method:
1. First, prep the wings by slicing them in half. The easiest way to do this is by holding the wing upright with one hand and then carefully slicing down through the joint. After the first few you’ll get the hang of it.
2. Marinade the wings in 2 tbsp soy, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tsp chilli, grated garlic and ginger. Leave to marinade for at least 1 hour in the fridge.
3. Fill a large wok/pot with the oil and bring to a high heat.
4. Combine 150g cornflour with 250ml cold water and whisk until smooth.
5. Add half the wings to a container before adding 2 tbsp cornflour, put the lid over the top and shake for 10 seconds or until the wings are nicely coated.
6. Dip the wings in the batter and then carefully add to the hot oil.
7. Fry for 10 minutes.
8. Once ready, remove the wings from the pan and rest on kitchen paper, season with salt & pepper.
9. Repeat the process with the other wings.
10. Add all the wings to a big bowl and lather over the hot honey, give the wings a toss and then top with sesame seeds and finely sliced spring onion.
