The PCB has scrapped the traditional player draft and adopted a full auction model for the upcoming 2026 PSL season, a historic shift meant to boost competitiveness, transparency, and player earnings. Under the new rules, franchises may retain a maximum of four players — one per category — ahead of the auction. Mentors, brand ambassadors, and right-to-match provisions have been removed to simplify squad building and level the playing field. Newly inducted teams (Hyderabad and Sialkot) can pre-select four players from the available pool before the auction, and each franchise may make one direct foreign signing who did not participate in the last season. The PSL salary purse has been raised from USD 1.3 million to USD 1.6 million per team, reflecting the league’s expanding commercial strength. PSL XI will begin on March 26, 2026, marking one of the most significant changes in the league’s history.
