Russia uses Russian as a soft power, promoting Russian literature: Pushkin, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Nabokov, Turgenev and Pasternak. But is Russia's aggressive politics damaging Russia's soft power? Is the language of an empire suffering because of Russian expansionism?
