Botenga calls out European Parliament for silence over Israel West Bank annexation measures

Описание: Speaking at the European Parliament on Tuesday, Belgian lawmaker Marc Botenga called out the Parliament for its silence over Israel’s move to extend civil control over the occupied West Bank, a step critics say creates de facto annexation.

“For years, Europe has been telling the Palestinians: ‘Don't worry, we support a two-state solution, you will have your state.’ But today, with Israel making this completely impossible and cancelling out any prospect of such a state, this issue is not even on our Parliament's agenda. This is unacceptable,” Botenga said.

The sweeping changes announced on Sunday would expand Israel's civil control in Areas A and B of the West Bank - where all major Palestinian cities and towns are located - that since the Oslo Accords of 1993 have officially been under Palestinian Authority (PA) jurisdiction.
